ATLANTA — Members of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association South Dekalb Perimeter and East Atlanta Suburban chapters recently partnered to recruit students for Savannah State University at a High School Recruitment Fair in the Atlanta, Ga. area.
ORLANDO, Fla. — The Savannah State University National Alumni Association Central and Suncoast Florida Chapter will hold the 2017 Holiday Breakfast and Toys for Tot Collection on December 9 beginning at 10 a.m. at Fred’s Market Restaurant (835 Currency Circle, Lake Mary). Participants are asked to bring an unwrapped toy to donate to Toys for Tots Program.
The Holiday Breakfast is the chapter’s annual opportunity to fellowship with the Central Florida Tiger family.

WASHINGTON — For the second straight year, members of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association Washington, DC Chapter will participate in the Wreaths Across America program at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 17.
The chapter will be part of a larger group of capital-area alumni associations, corporate groups, and individual volunteers that aim to place 500,000 wreaths on veterans’ graves this year. Wreaths Across America’s mission — Remember, Honor, Teach — is carried out annually thorugh wreath laying ceremonies at veteran cemeteries and other locations in all 50 states, through ceremonies at sea, and at 24 national cemeteries on foreign soil. LARGO, Md. — Members of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association Washington, DC Chapter marked the chapter’s 60th anniversary with a celebration banquet on October 13.
During the event, the chapter honored James O. Thomas, Jr., Raymond Knight, and William N. Weston who were all original founders of the chapter in 1967 and Eloise Alston, an honorary chapter founder. The keynote speaker was Jimmie Jackson, a former national president of the SSUNAA and the Savannah State University Foundation. The chapter also presented a special scholarship presentation to Cheryl Davenport-Dozier, the 13th president of Savannah State University.
The SSUNAA Washington, DC Chapter was officially established on November 10, 1957 and was the first SSUNAA chapter organized outside of the state of Georgia. The chapter currently serves the Savannah State University community in Washington, DC, northern Virginia, and southern Maryland and participates in a variety of support, networking, athletic, and family-friendly events and activities throughout the year.
