FORT VALLEY, Ga. — The 32nd Annual GAAHBSU (Georgia Alumni Association of Historically Black State Universities) Legislative Conference will be held on January 24 – 26, 2017, at the Ramada Plaza Atlanta Capital Park Hotel (Downtown Atlanta). Fort Valley State University National Alumni Association, Inc. is the host Association for GAAHBSU 2017. The theme for this year’s conference is “Envisioning Our Future, Embracing Our Legacy, and Expanding our Horizon”.
GAAHBSU is a consortium of the National Alumni Associations of Albany State University, Fort Valley State University, and Savannah State University. It is organized to advance their missions and to help ensure the futures of these historically significant institutions. The legislative conference provides a forum for alumni and officials of Georgia’s Historically Black Public Universities to dialogue with elected officials and key state leaders to address the universities’ common goals and concerns.

WASHINGTON — The Washington DC Chapter of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association will hold its annual Holiday Social on Saturday, December 10, from 5 p.m. to 10 p.m. This annual event serves as an opportunity to celebrate the season with Savannah State alumni, students, and university supporters from the local community. Heavy hors d’oeuvres and beverages will be provided. The Savannah State University National Alumni Association promotes the welfare of Savannah State University and to assist in advancing the mission and goals of the university’s administration. WASHINGTON — Members of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association Washington, DC, Chapter will participate in the annual Wreaths Across America program, an event that aims to place 500,000 wreaths on veterans’ graves this year. The SSUNAA will be part of a larger group of capital-area alumni associations, corporate groups, and individual volunteers that are laying wreaths on grave sites at Arlington National Cemetery on Saturday, December 17.
