SSU announces 2020 Alumni and Friends Cruise Excursion

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah State University Office of Alumni Relations recently announced the 2020 Alumni & Friends Cruise Excursion, a five-day Eastern Caribbean cruise on the Carnival Cruise Liner “Elation.”

The cruise will depart from Port Canaveral, Fla. on Monday, July 20 with planned stops in Amber Cove, the Dominican Republic, and the Grand Turk and Caicos Islands. The ship is scheduled to return to Port Canaveral on Saturday, July 25.

The total cost of the trip is $959 per person (two per room/cabin); $859/person (3 or 4 per room/cabin); ocean view double stateroom with window $1,029/person ( two per room); three or four persons in the same room/cabin is $929 each. No balcony cabins available. The complete package for the trip includes motor coach transportation to and from Port Canaveral, snacks, water and soft drinks on the bus, five day cruising, all port charges and government taxes, on-ship gratuities, Captain’s Cocktail Party and Gala Dinner, complimentary 24-hr stateroom service and 24-hr pizzeria and ice cream parlors. The insurance protection plan is not included, but can be purchased for an additional $139 per person.

A non-refundable booking deposit of $250 is due no later than Friday, December 6, 2019 and a payment plan has been devised.

SSU Foundation announces 2019 Scholarship Golf Scramble

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah State University Foundation recently announced that the 2019 SSU Scholarship Golf Scramble will take place on Friday, October 25 at the Savannah Country Club (501 Wilmington Island Rd., Savannah, Ga.). 

The goal of the event is to have a fun day playing rounds of golf. The proceeds from the Scholarship Scramble will support scholarships for deserving students as they pursue their education.

SAVANNAH, Ga. — When the Fall 2019-2020 academic year kicked off, four undergraduate students benefited from a significant boost to fund their education at Savannah State University provided by the SSUNAA Class of 1976 Chapter. They were recognized by the SSU Foundation in a ceremony on Saturday, August 24, 2019.

The SSUNAA Room Rate is $179 + taxes for double and king-sized rooms. Junior, executive, one bedroom and two bedrooms parlor suites are also available at discounted rates. The SSUNAA parking rate on site is $24 per vehicle each day.

September 26, 2019 is the cutoff date for the SSUNAA rates.
