SSUNAA hosts annual May Conference

SAVANNAH, Ga. — On Friday and Saturday, May 6-7, the Savannah State University National Alumni Association membership met in Savannah for the annual National Conference. The session opened on Friday with the association’s Executive Vice-President, Dr. Percy Mack, Jr. presiding. Greetings were extended from the student body, SSU administrators and elected officials from the City of Savannah. SSU President, Dr. Cheryl Davenport-Dozier, presented the “State of the University” address. SSU’s Public Safety Director, James Barnwell, and SSU’s new head football coach, Erik Raeburn, were introduced to the association’s membership.

SSUNAA National Vice-President Dr. Judy Days-Dee presided over the business session on Saturday. Sixteen chapters were represented at the meeting. The national association’s budget for 2016-17 was approved by the body. National officers and national committee chairpersons addressed the body with their annual reports. After engaging in interactive dialogue relative to the budget reports and updates, it is evident that the Savannah State University National Alumni Association is still on target with the mission that was established so many years ago.
