SAN DIEGO — Participants in the March 31 SSUNAA San Diego Chapter chartering included Marcus Stallworth ’11, Lt. Gen. (Ret.) Walter Gaskin ’74, Sameca Globe ’07, Christana Johnson ’15, Rickey Hereford ’74 (Chapter Vice President), Chantel White ’15 (Chapter President), Clyde Newton (National President), Dian Burroughs ’90, Joseph Burroughs ’89, Judy Days-Dee (National Vice-President), and Tellis Fears ’01.

SAN DIEGO — The Savannah State University National Alumni Association San Diego Chapter was officially chartered on March 31 at the Alpha Center in San Diego. Clyde Newton, the SSUNAA National President, administered the chartering of the chapter and installed the chapter’s new officers.

The chartering ceremony included remarks by Lt. Gen. Walter Gaskins, who urged those in attendances to support Savannah State University spiritually, physically and financially. In attendance at the chartering ceremony were the SSUNAA’s National Vice President, Dr. Judy Days-Dee, and the SSU Director of Alumni Relations, Barbara Myers. Members of the San Diego HBCU Alumni Association from Morehouse College, Spelman College, and Clark/Atlanta University were present along with other friends and family members of the charter members.

The installed chapter officers were the chapter president, Chantel White (’15) and the chapter vice-president, Rickey Hereford (’74). Other charter members are Joseph Burroughs II (’89), Dian Burroughs (’90), Torry Butler (’16), LaShawn Charles (’16), Tellis Fears (’01), Sameca Globe (’07), Jameila Grant (’16), Christana Johnson (’15), Shawn Smith (’16), and Marcus Stallworth (’11).

SSUNAA Officially Charters the Class of 1976 Chapter during 2017 Annual Conference

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The newly chartered Savannah State University National Alumni Association Class of 1976 Chapter, received its official Chapter Charter on Saturday, May 6, during the annual SSUNAA National Conference. Mr. Clyde A. Newton, the SSUNAA National President, administered the chartering of the chapter and installation of its new officers.

SSUNAA set to charter the Raleigh-Durham Chapter on March 2

DURHAM, N.C. – The Savannah State University National Alumni Association will host a chartering ceremony for the Raliegh-Durham Chapter on Sunday, March 2 at 4 p.m. The ceremony will be held at the St. Joseph AME Church, 2521 Fayetteville Rd, Durham, N.C. The guest speaker for the ceremony will be Mr. Phillip D. Adams, the Vice President of University Advancement at Savannah State University.

The new chapter will create an organized network for communications between and among the alumni, administration, faculty, staff and students of Savannah State University and the Research Triangle region of North Carolina and its communities. The Executive Committee of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association authorized the establishment of the chapter in January 2014.

The purpose of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association is to promote the welfare of Savannah State University and to assist in advancing the mission and goals of the university’s administration.

Savannah State University National Alumni Association to Charter Hampton Roads Chapter

SAVANNAH, Ga. The Savannah State University National Alumni Association will host a chartering ceremony for the Hampton Roads Chapter on Friday, October 26 at 6 p.m.  The ceremony will be held at the Springhill Suites, 6350 Newtown Road, in Norfolk, Va.

The new chapter will create an organized network for communications between and among the alumni, administration, faculty, staff and students of Savannah State University and the southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina communities.

The Executive Committee of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association authorized the establishment of the chapter in August.

The purpose of the Savannah State University National Alumni Association is to promote the welfare of Savannah State University and to assist in advancing the mission and goals of the university’s administration.
