SSUNAA set to hold 2015 Southern Region Conference in Albany, Ga.


SAVANNAH, Ga.  The Savannah State University National Alumni Association will hold the 2015 Southern Region Conference in Albany, Ga., March 6-7, 2015. Hosted by the Savannah State University National Alumni Association Albany Chapter, the conference will be held at the Merry Acres Inn and Event Center (1500 Dawson Road, Albany, Ga.).

Early registration for the conference is $65, if postmarked or paid online before Feb. 23. The regular registration rate is $80 if paid after Feb. 23. The online registration is available at Please note that onsite registration will not be available.

Officially chartered in 1951, the SSUNAA Albany Chapter provides support to Savannah State University by building fellowship between alumni, students, staff and supporters in the Albany, Ga. community, supporting the university academically through the recruitment of students, and funding scholarships.

The Savannah State University National Alumni Association is a 501(c)(3) organization whose primary purpose is to promote the welfare of Savannah State University and assist in advancing the university’s mission and the goals. The SSUNAA is a membership-based organization with chapters around the United States representing more than 22,000 alumni worldwide.


SSUNAA announced as host of the 2015 GAAHBSU Legislative Conference

SAVANNAH, Ga. — The Savannah State University National Alumni Association will serve as the host organization for the 2015 Georgia Alumni Association of Historic Black State Universities (GAAHBSU) Legislative Conference in Atlanta,  Jan. 27-29, 2015. Conference registration is $130.

The host hotel for the conference is the Ramada Plaza (formerly the Holiday Inn Capitol Hotel) and the room rate for conference attendees is $119 for reservations placed before Jan. 6, 2015.

GAAHBSU, a consortium of the national alumni associations of Albany State University, Fort Valley State University and Savannah State University, was organized to advance the missions and help ensure the future of the three historically black universities in the state of Georgia. The 2015 GAAHBSU Legislative Conference will be the organization’s 30th annual conference which provides a forum for alumni and elected officials to dialogue and address the common goals and concerns universities.

SSUNAA Raleigh-Durham plans SSU Tailgate in Durham

DURHAM, N.C. — The SSUNAA Raleigh-Durham Chapter will host a tailgate in the Latham Parking Deck on the North Carolina Central University campus for the Savannah State University football game against North Carolina Central on Oct. 25. The tailgate will begin at noon and kickoff for the game will be at 2 pm. The Latham Parking Deck is located at 1801 Fayetteville St, at the corner of Lincoln and Lawson Streets, in Durham.

SSUNAA set to support National College Colors Day 2014

college-colorsSAVANNAH, Ga. — Friday, August 29, 2014 is College Colors Day and the SSUNAA is encouraging students, faculty, staff, alumni and fans of Savannah State University to participate and wear your colors wherever you are.

The entire SSU community is encouraged to wear SSU gear to show their spirit and pride. If you don’t have SSU gear, please wear orange and blue to show you support SSU.

We are asking those who participate to post photos on Facebook, Twitter and Instagram using the hashtags #HAILSSU and #collegecolors and a select number will be featured on the Savannah State University National Alumni Association’s social media pages.

College Colors Day always falls on the Friday before Labor Day and is nationally organized by The Collegiate Licensing Company.

SSUNAA Savannah Chapter set to host Liturgical Dance Scholarship Fundraiser on August 10

dance-fundraiser-1SAVANNAH, Ga. — The SSUNAA Savannah Chapter will hold a Liturgical Dance Scholarship Fund Raiser on Sunday, August 10,  at 4 p.m. in the King-Frazier Student Center’s Elmore Theatre on the campus of Savannah State University. This dance extravaganza will feature Praise Dance groups from several churches in the Savannah community. Admission is free to the public, however donations will be requested during the event to support the chapter’s scholarship campaign to assist students currently attending Savannah State University.
